Day 1: Arrival at the Kigali International Airport.
Right from the airport, our guide will be glad to welcome you to Rwanda, the land of thousand hills. After enjoying the scenery of the area, you will proceed for the city tour in Kigali. The city is well maintained and clean with friendly people that will make your stay comfortable. With so much curiosity from our tourists, they are first driven to the Genocide memorial sites. The experience at the site is unforgotten and sad. Later on visit other significant areas in Kigali. After lunch, you continue to Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri, a home for the great mountain gorillas. Arrive late in the evening and check in to our desired lodges, these ranges from luxury, moderate and budget. Whichever you opt for, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the area. Day 2: 1st Gorilla tracking and Nature Walk.
Have an exquisite morning breakfast and proceed to the park’s headquarters of Par National des Volcans for briefing about the gorillas and meeting the rangers. The encounter is breathtaking as you hike through the lush rainforest looking for the gorillas. Some level of physical fitness is required as you need to climb the hills. This activity takes about 2 to 8 hours however getting a chance to come face to face with the gorillas is exciting. These are often seen in groups as they do their daily routine work; mothers feeding their young ones, playing, feeding and some resting at leisure. You are kindly asked to keep a distance from the gorillas and if you are to take pictures, remember to remove your flash because light distracts them. After an adventurous moment with the gorillas, you return to your lodge for relaxation. Depending on time and your energy levels, you go for nature walk to see Lake Ruhondo and Burera.You will surely love nature at its best.
Day 3: 2nd Gorilla tracking and Cultural walk.
Have an early morning breakfast and head out for the second gorilla tracking session at the headquarters. The park rangers will still brief you on the rules and principles that govern the activity of tracking the gorillas. This will actually be exciting because you will be used to some trails. The adventure of spotting them again is breathtaking and fulfilling to the soul. With such an experience, you will have information to tell people back home. After tracking the gorillas, return to your lodge and rest for some time. Later in the day, we proceed for the cultural walk to see the Banyarwanda communities. You will get a chance to see how the local people value their culture and what they believe in. The Rwandese will be able to entertain you with their traditional dance that is so graceful and welcoming. After a wonderful time with the local people, return to your lodge for dinner and have a beautiful sleep. The memories are for a lifetime.
Day 4: Golden Monkeys / Dian Fossey Hiking / transfer to Kigali.
Have a beautiful morning breakfast and get ready for tracking the golden monkeys. These are stunning primates that you will fall in love with, you will see them play and jump from one branch of tree to another. Make sure your camera is on standby because you may miss taking good shots. Another option may be visiting the Karisoke Research Centre and pay your last visits to the tombs of our significant primatologist. With all these amazing memories, drive back to Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
